Mrs. G. B. Martin died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Miller, in Fairfield, after a long illness, aged 67 years and 19 days. The funeral was held in the M. E. church at Martinsburg Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Hugh Neville, of Fremont, assisted by Rev. George Filmer, pastor. Interment was in the Martinsburg cemetery.

Elizabeth Jane Ardery was born in Greensburg, Indiana, October 22, 1848. She came to Iowa in 1856 and lived on a farm just south of Martinsburg for a number of years. In 1864 her mother died, leaving to her care a large family, which duty she faithfully performed until 1867, when on November 21 of that year she was married to G. B. Martin. To this union were born four children, one of whom, Frank, died in 1886. The others--John C., of Keithsburg, Illinois, Bert, of Lorimor, and Mrs. Nettie Miller, of Fairfield--with their father and eight grandchildren, remain to mourn her loss.

In 1886 she was converted to God and joined the M. E. church at Martinsburg, and later, when they moved to Fremont, her membership was transferred to the M.E. church of that place. She has been a true and faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, a loving wife and mother, a kind neighbor and faithful friend. Her loss will be deeply felt by her husband and children, also by her many friends.
