Obituary
Steven Metz, 66, of Keswick, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Riverside. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery with military rites provided by the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414. Visitation for Steven will he held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with an 8:00 p.m. Prayer Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Keswick First Responders or the Keswick Fire Department in memory of Steven. Steven Metz was born on June 21, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Edward Joseph and Helen Ruth (Schaffer) Metz. He was a graduate of Midland High School in Wyoming and later attended Indian Hills Community College where he received a degree in aviation mechanics. Steven proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On November 4, 1978, Steven was united in marriage to Joann Gudenkauf at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan, Iowa. He owned and operated The Keswick Locker and semi-retired as a rural mail carrier. Steven served on the Keswick town council and enjoyed working on cars, watching sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, but most of all, he dearly loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Steven will be deeply missed by his wife, Joann of Keswick; his children, Kellie (Nate) Byrd of Davenport, Christine Metz of Davenport and Brian (Brittany) Metz of Oxford; two grandchildren, Saylor and Barrett Metz; mother, Helen Metz of LeClaire and siblings, Wayne (Marsha) Metz of Fort Madison, Kenneth (Pam) Metz of Springfield, Illinois, Kevin (Doris) Metz of Marion, Joann Etten (Daryl Carstensen) of Wyoming and Roberta (Robert) Pegorick of LeClaire.

Steven was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Lisa Wilson.
