Funeral services for Dale R. Hansen, 74, Onslow, were held Nov. 11, 1996 at the Zion Lutheran church in Wyoming, with the Rev. David Guetzke officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.

Mr. Hansen died Nov.8 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness.

The son of George P. and Adah Martin Hansen, he was born March 17, 1922 near Delmar. He graduated from Elwood high school. He married Marilyn Herzberger Aug. 18, 1946 at Zion Lutheran church in Wyoming. She died in November 1989.

Mr. Hansen farmed for 7 years and then entered a family partnership with his wife's parents in the Herzberger Hardware store in Wyoming. The partnership continued for 5 years and in 1958 the couple purchased a farm west of Onslow, where he farmed for over 38 years.

He also sold MeJon fertilizer for several years and was a salesman for DeKalb Seed for over 23 years.

Mr. Hansen was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Wyoming. He served as township assessor for several years and had been a Madison township trustee for over 17 years. He also served on the Little Bear Recreation board at Wyoming and the Onslow Telephone Co. board. He was a 4-H leader for several years.

Mr. Hansen enjoyed all types of sports, playing softball for several years, golfing, and fishing in Canada. In later years he wintered in Phoenix, Ariz.

He is survived by 2 sons, Paul and his wife Kris, Wyoming; and David and his wife Linda, Cedar Falls; 5 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Maxine (Mrs. Charles) Bartels, Olin; Doris (Mrs. Virgil) Wessels, Colesburg; Ellen (Mrs. William) Wilcox, Daveport and Mary (Mrs. Rodney) Walters, Monmouth; 2 brothers, George Hansen and John William Hansen, both of Wyoming and a special friend, Evelyn Wulf, Oxford Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 sisters and a brother.
