Gerald Chamberlin (1926-1996)

Funeral services for Gerald "Boots" Chamberlin, 70, Olin, were held Oct. 28, 1996 at the Olin United Methodist church, with the Rev. Edmond Powers officiating. Burial was in the Olin cememtery.

Mr. Chamberlin died Oct. 25 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a long illness.

The son of Clarence E. and Mae Jackson Chamberlin, he was born Oct. 19, 1926 near Olin. He graduated from Stanwood high school and helped his parents on the family farm. He married Velma Harness Dec. 1, 1946 in Anamosa and they made their home on a farm near Olin.

In addition to farming, Mr. Chamberlin also operated a portable grinder. In the late 1950's he began working for Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids. In 1963 he went to work at Universal Engineering, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Chamberlin was a member of the Olin United Methodist church.

He was well known for his involvement in the game of baseball for many years.

Mr. Chamberlin is survived by his wife; 4 sons, Cleve, Mechanicsville; Mike, Olin; Robert, Stanwood and Joe, Olin; 16 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Mervin Chamberlin, Olin. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, a grandson and a sister.
