Funeral services for John Carstensen, 71, Stanwood, were held at the Wyoming Methodist church Feb. 22 with the Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald and Dennis Carstensen, Thomas Paulsen, Paul and Gordon Thomsen and Richard Bahnsen. Mrs. Richard Page was organist and Mrs. Michael House vocalist.

Mr. Carstensen died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Feb. 20.

The son of August and Catherine Petersen Carstensen, he was born at Wyoming Oct. 7, 1912. He attended the Wyoming school.

He was married to Aldenia Pierce at Maquoketa Dec. 21, 1952. He worked for the Iowa Highway commission at Wyoming for 7 years, then farmed near Wyoming from 1950 to 1963. In 1963 he moved to a farm in the Clarence area. He retired from farming in 1975 and moved to Stanwood. He was a member of the Clarence Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, Aldenia, Stanwood; 2 daughters, Karen Rouse and Mrs. David (Judy) Fiala, Cedar Rapids; 7 grandchildren; a brother, Herman, Wyoming and 4 sisters, Mrs. Emma Paulsen, Mrs. Elmer (Hertha) Bahnsen and Mrs. Raymond (Dora) Dusanek, all of Wyoming and Mrs. Max (Minna) Thomsen, Olin. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
