CENTER JUNCTION - Lorenz Petersen, 26, died June 15 in a hospital on Okinawa from wounds sustained the same day, according to a war department message received by his mother, Mrs. Anna Petersen, Wednesday of last week.

Petersen entered service, Dec. 27, 1943, and trained at Camp Roberts, Calif., with the 17th infantry division, he served in Hawaii, the Philippines, the Marianas and Okinawa. He is survived by his mother, one brother, John, Gunner's mate, 1/C on the east coast, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Balster from west of Monticello.

Petersen attended the Center Junction school and was employed on farms before entering the service.

He is survived by his mother, two brothers, John, GM 1/c attending school in the east and Chris, in Cedar Rapids, and one sister, Mary Balster, from west of Monticello.

Pvt. Petersen was born in Center Junction and attended school here. He had been employed on farms before entering the service.
