26 July 1945 - Monticello Express

Roger Prull, 3 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eilert Prull, living south of Monticello, was drowned Thursday morning when he fell into a large water tank on the family farm. He had been playing about the separator house while his mother was washing utensils after the morning milking. She missed the little boy and unable to locate him.

She drove the family car out to the field where her husband was working. He immediately thought of the water tank and it was there they discovered their son's lifeless body. He had been dead about a half hour, according to a physician who examined the body.

The water tank was partially boarded over and it also contained gold fish. It is thought that the child was interested in the fish and lost his balance, sliding under the portion covered with the boards. If he had stood up, his head would have been out of the water.

Roger Allen Prull was born April 14, 1942. His sudden death is mourned by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eilert Prull; has grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Prull, Monticello, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cocking, Eric, Ill.; and many other relatives and friends.

Roger was the only child in the family. Funeral services were held for him last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Matthew's Lutheran church. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery. In the absence of Rev. Adix, the Rev. H. A. Diers, pastor of St. Peter and Paul's Lutheran church, officiated.
