The Monticello Express, Monticello, Iowa, Thursday, December 16th, 1886

Mr. John Hayden, accompanied by his wife, while driving from town to his son’s residence northwest of town, last Monday, met with a very painful accident. In some unaccountable manner the team in turning around overturned the buggy, throwing both Hayden and his wife out, breaking one of his ribs and bruising Mrs. Hayden quite severely about the face and head. Dr. Phillips was immediately called, and the sufferers are getting along as well as can be expected.
