Jacquelyn "Jacque" (Rogers) Lenihan, 72, of Solon, passed away April 13, 2024 at the University Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday, April 28 at the Kirkwood Room in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.

Jacque, daughter of Billy Dean and Barbara Alice Branson Rogers, was born June 22, 1951, in Iowa City, IA. She was raised in the Goosetown area of Iowa City, in the same house in which her father was raised. The family later moved to Cedar Rapids. Jacque graduated from Jefferson High School but always considered herself an Iowa Citian. Between her junior and senior year, while camping with the family at the Coralville Reservoir, she met the love of her life, William Lenihan. A little bit goofy, Bill knew how to make her laugh, a skill that would last their entire 55 years of marriage. They married the next summer and welcomed their first child, Jason, later that year. Jacque proudly bragged about making her own wedding and the bride’s maid dresses. Bill entered the Air Force and together the young family journeyed to Texas and then on to Japan for a 3 year deploy. While in Japan, the family adventured through the country exploring small towns and festivals. This sparked Jacque’s love of travel and adventure.

After the service, the family moved back to Iowa City where Bill pursued his education through the GI bill and Jacque began a 44-year career with Sheller Globe, United Technologies Automotive, and International Automotive Components.

They soon completed their family when they welcomed their daughter, Olivia (Livi).

Together Jacque and Bill reunited with high school friends and created their second family, the Gang. It is with the gang that many weekends were spent at Iowa football games and gatherings at friends houses. The group took a yearly houseboat trip on the Mississippi river and were well known for their celebration of the holidays at the Amana’s.

Jacque was extremely proud of her children and supported all their academic and athletic activities as they moved through high school, college, and adulthood. Jacque and Bill assisted with both Livi’s and Jason’s high school athletics. They traveled to watch Livi play softball and soccer while she attended Grinnell College. They took numerous trips to visit Jason in Corpus Christi, Texas and especially enjoyed going abroad to visit him in Azerbaijan.

Jacque had a thirst for life and fun. She enjoyed being around her family and friends. She loved to organize parties, living by the family motto, ‘if it’s worth doing, it’s worth over-doing’. She adopted Jason and Livi’s friends as if they were her own and was known by all for her distinctive, infectious laugh that could fill a room and sometimes even fill the neighborhood.

Jacque is survived by her husband Bill; her children Jason (Khayala) Lenihan of Corpus Christi, Texas; her daughter Livi Lenihan of North Liberty, Iowa; grandsons Dylan, Orion, and Jacob; sister Claudette (Dave) Giannetto; sister-in-law, Amy Koppenhaver; brother-in-law John (Irene) Lenihan; nephews, Jesse Giannetto, Justin Giannetto, and Sean (Mandy) Lenihan; neice Laura (Nolan) Nelson; aunt Esther Pierce; and numerous cousins.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Bill and Barbara Rogers and her brother Les Rogers.
