Melvin Wayne LUKE Jr., 64, of Ollie, IA passed away on May 14, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (note: in Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA). He was born on June 10, 1961 in Fairfield, IA to Melvin Sr. and Karen LUKE where he grew up in Glasgow, IA and graduated from Fairfield High School.

He married the love of his life, Kathryn (WHEATON) LUKE on October 9, 1982. In their 43 years of marriage, they had 2 daughters, Sandra and Amy, along with 3 grandchildren, Alyvia, Zaidyn, and Adalyn.

He loved spending time with his family and his Yorkie, Bella. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed watching just about any sport.

Melvin left behind his wife, Kathryn and their children, Sandra (Chad) TRANER and Amy (Travis) BELL; grandchildren, Alyvia, Zaidyn, and Adalyn; his brother Gilbert (Susan) LUKE, sister Tammy LUKE, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barb.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
