James "Jim" Robert MILLANE

James "Jim" Robert MILLANE was born on May 21, 1942, the youngest of nine children of John and Cecilia (ARNDT) MILLANE. He passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family. Jim left the world better through the lives he touched and the love he so freely gave.

Jim's leagacy lives on in all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 61 years, Marge MILLANE; their three children, Janet (Allen) LICITRA, Steve (Melinda) MILLANE, and Lori (Mike) MERCURIO; and his six cherished grandchildren, Celia and Gabriel MILLANE, Tyler and Matthew MERCURIO, and Brittany ad Sophia LICITRA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Leo MILLANE, Joe MILLANE, Kathryn GREINER, Sister Jane Francis MILLANE, Rita HAMMES, Sister Pacelli MILLANE, and Bud MILLANE. Jim is also survived by his brother, Ed (Ardelle) MILLANE.

Jim graduated from Fairfield High School and proudly served in the Iowa Army National Guard. In 1962, he met the love of his life, Marge, and they were married on May 1, 1965. Together, the built a life centered on love, family, and simple joys, walks in the park, time with loved ones, concerts, and peaceful days on the family farm.

Jim began his career as a builder and designer, creating homes with the kind of care and craftsmanship that could only come from someone who truly loved working with his hands, and his talent showed in every home he built or remodeled. He later devoted more than 30 years to Agri-Industrial Plastics in Fairfield, Iowa, bringing the same steady work ethic and quiet pride to everything he touched.

Farming was woven into Jim's life from the very beginning. He farmed alongside his dad and brothers and carried that love of the land with him throughout his life. Anything with an engine or wheels lit him up, from motorcycle rides to car shows and farm sales. He showed his love through the things he built, the help he offered, the stories he shared, and the way he showed up with a full heart, steady, loyal, and always with a smile. Time with his family was among his greatest joys. Whether traveling to theme parks or cheering on his grandchildren at band concerts, hockey, football, baseball, lacrosse games, swimming or attending plays, he was endlessly proud of every one of them.

The family is deeply grateful for the love and support that surrounded Jim throughout his life. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, Iowa, on May 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m., immediately followed by a luncheon at the church hall. All who knew and loved Jim are invited to attend and celebrate his life. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
