KENNETH MERRILL
Fairfield

Kenneth MERRILL age 77 of Fairfield, formerly of Packwood, passed away on March 1, 2024, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Kenny was born in Fairfield on May 3, 1946. He was the son of Alvin and Ruth [CARRIS] MERRILL.

He spent his childhood in the Richland and Packwood community.

He was in the Army, stationed in Europe during the Vietnam conflict.

Kenny married Lora SCOTT on June 20, 1969 at Harmony Bible Church in Danvile, Iowa.

He was the owner/operator of a semi-truck for many years, Later, he owned and operated a lawn mower shop at his house. He farmed the family farm for several years.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, and going to swap meets. He was involved in the Lion's Club in Packwood.

Kenny is survived by his wife Lora, sons Mike (Robie) MERRILL of Batavia and Jeff MERRILL of Phoenix, Arizona, four grandchildren, Hazlyn and Atley of Fairfield and Myra and Vincent of Phoenix, Arizona, three step-grandkids, sister Judy NICHOLS of Fairfield, half-brothers Joseph and Alvin MERRILL of Michigan, daughter-in-law Stephanie MERRILL of Fairfield, sister-in-law Sheryl EID of Fort Madison, and half-brother-in-law Allan (April) SCOTT of Missouri.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Ruth MERRILL, step-father Randy RANDOLPH, son Matthew MERRILL, mother- and father-in-law Ray and Willa SCOTT, and step-mother-in-law Leta.

According to his wishes, he was cremated and there will be no service.

Memorial funds may be sent to your local fire department. Cards may be sent to Lora MERRILL at 3300 West Van Buren Avenue, Fairfield, IA 52556.
