Chrystal Lucille Walker
1937 - 2024

Chrystal Lucille Walker, was born to Albert C and Minnie V (Redding) Henning on December 25, 1937, in Newton, Iowa. She grew up and went to school in Newton. As a young girl, she worked at the Cardinal lunch in Newton along with her sister Betty. Chrystal later became the owner and operator of the C&G Tap until retiring.

Chrystal was united in marriage to Rodney Eugene Walker on July 27, 1988 in Newton. They had a good life spending time with family and many good friends.

Chrystal passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was 86 years old.

Chris enjoyed camping and fishing with Jeff as he was growing up and carried on that love with Rodney and their friends, kids and grandkids until later years. They also loved baseball and Chris sponsored a men’s softball team with the tap and enjoyed following them as they played. They were always the kids and grandkids biggest fans at their sporting events also. They both of loved NASCAR racing and loved chasing Scott and Josh around the country while they competed in racing go karts and late models cars. Chris was an avid bowler and looked forward to spending time with her bowling friends and traveling to tournaments with them. They also enjoyed getting together with friends and family and playing cards and visiting. She was an excellent gardener and landscaper and loved riding around her huge yard in her golf cart with her best buddy Maxie, checking out her flowers and looking for weeds. Chrystal will always be remembered for going above and beyond, for those that she loved! Loving memories will live on through her son Jeff, her stepson, Scott Walker (Darla Oskam), her stepdaughters, Rhonda(Joel) Carmichael and Ginger(Jeff) LaKose, her grandchildren Ryan Morrow, Adam Morrow (Krisondra Ryther), Josh Walker, Josie(Mike) Schrad, Joel Hopkins (Kelly Mueller), Stacey (Cody) Simbro, Doug (Jenny) Verwers, Brandi Carmichael, Jeremy (Mindy) Carmichael, Josh (Ashley) Oskam and Maddy(Ben) Naber. Great grandchildren Caroline Walker, Grant and Clark Schrad, Meegan and Melanie Verwers, Brock and Beau Simbro and Quentin Wolfe, Mary Beth and Jack Armstrong, Reagan, Olivia and Harrison Carmichael, Preston, Tristan, Grayson and Presley Oskam and Calvin Naber. She is also survived by her brother Jim Henning (Connie Skates), and sister-in-law‘s Helen Henning and Judy Henning and several nieces and nephews. Crystal was proceeded in death by her parents, sisters Betty Stafford and Alberta Meyer and brothers Bill, Bob, Harold, Skip, Ronnie, Dick and Tommy Henning, sister-in-law’s Mary Henning and Ona Henning. A drive-through service will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Palo Alto Cemetery 4968 Highway S74 S Newton, Iowa. The family will be there to greet visitors. Please remain in your cars as you drive through to pay your respects. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Chrystal’s family or to a charity of your choosing. You may leave memorials there with Pence – Reese Funeral Home or hand them to a family member as you give your condolences. There will be a private family burial following the visitation drive through.
