Catharine L. “Cathy” Wehrman passed away July 4, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications of heart failure.
She was born February 10, 1945, to parents, Paul and Leona (Shedenhelm) Strovers in Grinnell, Iowa. She attended school in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1963. She was active in the school choir.
She attended business school in Minneapolis before moving to Des Moines to attend, and work, at AIB. She was a certified secretary and worked in office administration for her professional life.
On June 15, 1984, Cathy married Henry J. Wehrman at Ashton Park, Jasper County, Iowa. They each brought two children into the marriage. In 1985, they moved to rural Luzerne, Iowa, to the Wehrman Century Farm.
Cathy worked for the Belle Plaine Sale Barn, Rockwell Collins, Whirlpool, and Johnson Insurance, before retiring. After retirement, she volunteered with Benton County Volunteers.
She was a long time Methodist, and current member of the Chelsea Methodist Church. She was a 30+ year member of the Belle Plaine PEO Chapter.
Cathy enjoyed golfing and bowling and participated in local leagues. She served on the Boards of the Belle Plaine Country Club and Belle Plaine Methodist Church.
Cathy was an excellent cook and hosted many fun family gatherings at the farm.
She is survived by her husband, Henry J. Wehrman, step-daughter, Wendy (Ray) Ringgenberg, sister, Karen Strovers, brothers, Evan, Denny, and Nick Strovers. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, son, Chris Strovers, daughter, Lori Jemison, step-son, Ward Wehrman, grandson, Brett Strovers, and brothers, Paul and Rick Strovers.
Memorial service will be10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine with pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 13th at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
