Jack Ray Mully, 92, of Coralville, IA, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at The Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to United Action for Youth or Iowa City Free Medical Clinic.

Jack was born in 1932 in Cedar Falls to John and Anna (Prosperi) Mully. Jack was the fifth of eight children. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School where he played baseball and basketball. He was selected for the NE Iowa All-Conference basketball team. He also played baseball for the Cedar Falls Jr. Legion team. After high school, he attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) for one year before serving in the Air Force from 1952-56 during the Korean War. In Korea he flew on a B-26 bomber. He then returned to the USA and was transferred to 98th Air Refueling Squadron. While at Lowry Airforce Base, he was on the All-Star basketball team. He finished his degree at UNI after his service discharge. He continued his basketball career under scholarship at UNI where he was chosen team captain. Later he completed his master's in school administration at ISU.

Jack taught and coached at Garner, IA for three years and spent the rest of his teaching and coaching career at West Marshall CSD. After retiring from teaching in 1991, he worked for 10 years at ACT in Iowa City. Jack married Judy Goodman Lewis in 1991. He enjoyed his family, golf, Cubs baseball and traveling.

Jack is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Lisa Boysen of Monticello, Turk (Barbie) Mully of Omaha; stepsons, Matthew Lewis of Williamsburg, Timothy Lewis of Cedar Rapids, and Kent (Hannah) Lewis of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Brandon Markley, Rowan Mully, Lawson Mully, Korgan Mully, Harper Lewis and Kendall Lewis; several great grandchildren, including Miles Hatchel; one sister and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
