Shirley Mae Witte Siders, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed Friday, April 12, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior.

Shirley was born May 4, 1936, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Millard and Merwin “Merch” (Mullnix) Witte. She worked at Amana Refrigeration for 28 years until her retirement in 2001. Shirley enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she affectionately referred to as her “sweetie pies.” She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 8797 in Williamsburg, and the Forty and Eight Organization for American veterans and service members. Additionally, Shirley generously volunteered at Watts Hospital in Williamsburg.

Survivors include her daughter, Renee (Mark) McElmeel of Cedar rapids; grandchildren, Alex McElmeel and Ryan McElmeel; and siblings, Lloyd (Sandra) Witte, Kenneth (Sarah) Witte, Leland (Sherrie) Witte, and Sandra (Donald) Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Eugene (Delores) Witte, Loren Witte, and Wayne Witte.
