Obituary – Mrs. Frank Elser
Ida Mae Weisensee Elser, daughter of Peter J. and Florence Curry Weisensee, was born March 19, 1902 in Ida Grove. She passed away at the Ida Grove Hospital on November 3 after an illness of over a year which was the result of a severe stroke. She was 54 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Elser spent her childhood in Ida Grove with the exception of a few years in Montana and Washington. She was graduated from the Ida Grove High School in 1921. She was united in marriage with Frank Leland Elser on June 14, 1922. Two children were born to them, Mona Mae and Ava Lou. She is survived by her widower, Frank, two daughters (Mona Mae), Mrs. Curtis Jeffries of Ida Grove and (Ava Lou) Mrs. William Stewart of Rocford, Ill.; also her beloved mother, Mrs. Florence Weisensee of Ida Grove, two brothers, John and Chester, of Sioux City and three grandchildren, Kay Stewart. Mae had been very active in lodge work in the community. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine and an officer in each organization. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. On June 27, 1915 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and fellowshipped with the Church of God. She was faithful to her church, serving in the Ladies Aid, Missionary Society and the choir for many years. Funeral services were held in Winebrenner Church of God on Monday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Russell Wilson officiating. Mrs. Harriette Laursen and Mrs. Darrel Wellendorf sang “The Lights of Home” and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs. John Collier. Pallbearers were: Arthur Rathbun, Chester Hurd, John Crawford, Thomas Copps, and Chester Phelps.
