Patricia Fairchild, Robt. Harrington Wed at United Lutheran, Chester

Miss Patricia Fairchild, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Fairchild, Chester, Iowa became the bride of Robert Harrington, son of Mr. And Mrs. Everett Harrington, Chester, Iowa, in a ceremony performed April 13, 1968 at 2:30p.m. in the United Lutheran Church at Chester with Pastor Elwood Skarpness officiating. The altar of the church was decorated with baskets of white gladioli and blue tipped carnations.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful floor length gown of white French net over taffeta, appliqued in motifs of Alencon lace. The gown was designed on straight lines. The taffeta fitted silhouette was veiled by French net straight from shoulder to hemline. The long fitted sleeves were tapered at the wrist, and the neckline was in high bateau style. A train of appliqued net bordered in white satin fell from the shoulders in cathedral length. The hemline was was also bordered in satin. Her finger tip veil fell from a satin ring. She carried a floral cascade of red roses and ivy.

Miss Dorothy Smith of Wabasha, Minn., friend of the bride was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Audrey Fairchild and Miss Gail Knapp, sisters of the bride. They were attired in street length dresses of royal blue satin, with fitted bodice, full skirts and head pieces to match. Each carried a long stemmed red rose. Miss Kimberly Harrington, niece of the groom was flower girl. She wore a blue dress and headpiece similar to the other attendants and carried a bouquet of red roses and stephanotis.

Attending the groom were Wayne Miene, Army friend, of Postville, Iowa, as bestman. Also Richard Harrington, Charles City, Iowa, groom's brother and Roger Bhend, LeRoy, Minn., friend of the groom. Jerome Berge, groom's nephew, was ring bearer. All wore boutonnieres of red roses. Ushers were Merle Knapp, West Des Moines, Iowa, brother of the bride and Loren Berge, Osage, Iowa, brother-in-law of the groom. Candle lighters were Greg Osland, Waterloo, Iowa cousin of the bride, and Randy Harrington, Chester, the groom's brother. Harold Osland, LeRoy, Minn., the bride's uncle, was soloist and her brother Gene Fairchild was the organist.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors for friends and relatives. The three-tiered wedding cake was decorated with red roses and was topped by a gold cross behind a bride and groom.

The bride is a student at Rochester Vocational School of Practical Nursing and the groom is engaged in farming. Following a short wedding trip the couple are making their home on a farm northeast of LeRoy, Minn.
