CITY ORDINANCE.

An Ordinance to prohibit the erection or placing of wooden buildings on Block No. Seven of the city of Mt. Pleasant.

Whereas, Nearly all the resident owners of Block No. Seven in the original Plat of this City have presented their request in writing, that an Ordinance shall be passed, prohibiting the erection or placing of wooden buildings on said Block, and it being shown that it is necessary for the safety of the property of the inhabitants of said City; therefore, Be it enacted by the City Council of the City of Mt. Pleasant:

SECTION 1st. Every person who: shall erect or place, or cause to be erected or placed, or attempt to erect or place, any wooden building on any part of Block No. Seven of the original Plat of the City of Mt. Pleasant, shall forfeit and pay to said City the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to be collected as provided for the collection of fines in said City, and such person shall also be guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof, shall pay a fine of not less than fifty dollars, nor more than one hundred dollars.

SEC 2d. All and any such erection or placing, attempted to be hereafter made, together with the materials used therein, or placed on said Block for that purpose, are hereby declared to be nuisances, and shall be abated by the City Marshall of said City, on proceedings had under the ordinances of said City in relation to nuisances, before a court having jurisdiction thereof.
