Lucinda Jo Glenn: Daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, Hawkeye, and Patriot.

Cindy Glenn had a great love and respect for family and friends. She valued her relationship with each of you, and worked very hard to maintain that relationship, no matter the distances that separated you.

She loved to travel -- and sometimes live -- in different places all over the world. Her home is filled with mementos and memories of those places, and she had a story to tell about each item.

I might add that, interspersed among those mementos, are many pictures of the people she knew and loved.

But no matter where she went, Cindy still billed herself as an Iowa farm girl. She inherited the family farm, and managed it for years with the help of her tenant, the Roosa family. She was a fervent Hawkeye fan, and stopped strangers on the sidewalk who were wearing Hawkeye gear.

Her ready smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all of us, as will her readiness to join us in an outing or adventure.

Let us not forget her personal and professional successes. She spent over 30 years in a variety of jobs that helped our Navy in its mission to protect us.

I forgot to mention that Cindy was a Patriot, fiercely defendant of our country and its history. She was Regent of the Amelia Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and used that position to skillfully preserve and promote this country's rich history. She was set to assume the role of Vice President of the Princess Amelia Chapter Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century. She would have certainly continued to promote our heritage.

Fair winds and following seas, Lucinda Jo Glenn. Now the wind will always be at your back. Now you can join family and friends you have missed, and your pain-free body can finally enjoy its eternal rest.
