She came to Americas with her parents in 1862 settling first in Morris, Ill., later living for two years near Lisbon, Ill. They came to Iowa in the spring of 1864, living for a time at Roland and then Story City.

She was married to Mr. Oscar Ostrem November 18th, 1880, at Story City where Mr. Ostrem then was in business. In 1890 they moved to Jewell where they have since resided. Their union was blessed with ten children, eight daughters and two sons, all of whom survive their mother.

Mrs. Ostrem has been unwell for some years and about two years ago she was very seriously sick. For some time her recovery was not hoped for at that time, but she finally recovered and has since felt quite well until December 29th when she was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia. She was unable to survive, passing away at 2:50 p.m. January 6th, 1915, aged 60 years, 5 months, and 4 days.

Besides her husband, six of her daughter and on son was with her to the end. The other son, Oscar Jr., arrived here from Portland, Oregon, to attend the funeral services. Two daughters, Isabell (Mrs. Wm. F. Hedin), and Anna (Mrs. Isaac D. Rumer) both of Portland, Oregon, were unable to come home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, at one o'clock from the home and at one-thirty from the church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Norstad, assisted by Rev. T. J. Knutson of Radcliffe, a nephew of the deceased, and Rev. N. G. Peterson of Des Moines, for many years pastor of Bethesda church. Six daughters served as pall bearers: Christine of Grinnell, Carrie of Jewell, Nellie (Mrs. Ralph Taylor) of Duncombe, Martha, Clara and Bessie, all of Jewell. Miss Emma Nelson sang a beautiful solo, and a quartette composed of Miss Emma Nelson, Miss Emma Knudson, Mrs. E. W. Knudson and Mrs. Louis Ostrem, furnished music. Floral offerings were numerous and very beautiful. The funeral services were attended by an exceptionally large crowd; scores coming from neighboring towns to one whom in life all had held in the deepest respect and esteem.

In addition to the children mentioned above, there is one other surviving child, the younger son Carl. Mrs. Ostrem is also survived by two brothers, Thos. C. Knutson, of Bellingham, Wash., and Christian Knutson, of Newport, Wash., also by two sisters, Mrs. O. J. Charlson and Miss Malinda C. Knutson, both of Story City.--Jewell Record.
