Lonnie Eugene “Bud” Huntley, the son of Roy and Hazel (Johnson) Huntley was born on July 3, 1939 in Estherville, Iowa. He died Monday, May 24, 2021 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 81 years.

Bud graduated from Estherville High School before being drafted into the United States Army, using the GI Bill to attend Iowa Lakes Community College. Bud was stationed in California from 1958-1960. He was honorably discharged in 1960.

Bud married Mary Jo Huffman on December 16, 1961. The couple moved to Estherville where Bud worked for Morrell’s for 22 years, before opening Bud’s Café in 1982. He owned and operated the café for 22 years.

He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church. In his free time, he liked to golf and fish. He went on an annual fishing trip to Akaska, SD on Father's Day with his sons, grandson, son-in-law and Eric's father, Larry. He loved to hunt and raised several breeds of hunting dogs.

Bud is survived by his children, Molly Jo (Eric) Anderson, Estherville, Lon “Sam” (Becky) Huntley, Smithville, Missouri, and Chad (Tami) Huntley, Gainesville, Georgia; his six grandchildren; his brother, Gary (Karen) Huntley; his sister, Donna Roberts; and his brothers-in-law, Ken Duitsman and Danny (Sue) Huffman.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Huntley, his parents, Roy and Hazel (Johnson) Huntley, his sister, Marlene Duitsman.

A funeral service was held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.
