Malcolm Lee Ogier, age 73, of Lamoni, Iowa was born on December 15, 1952, in Leon, Iowa to Clyde Melvin and Catherine Cynthia (Barrymaloney) Ogier of Kellerton, Iowa. He was welcomed home by his sister, Eileen, and his brothers, Melvin and Anthony. Due to complications their good neighbor, Mrs. Grieman, took care of Malcolm in his infancy. He left this life on March 14, 2026 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Malcolm attended kindergarten at Kellerton School, the family then moved to Lamoni where he then attended Lamoni School.

Malcolm loved to hunt, trap, fish, and just enjoy the outdoors most all of his life. On August 29, 1971, he married Marcia Marie Elliott. They started their life together in Lamoni, but on May 23, 1972, Malcolm was called to serve his country in the United States Army. While in basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, his daughter, Angela, was born on July 27, 1972. Malcolm was such a proud daddy, when given leave he hitchhiked to Lamoni to see his wife and baby girl. In preparation for the baby’s arrival, Malcolm had spent his allowance at the PX, buying baby diapers, baby clothes, and other items filling his suitcase to bring home to his little family. In October of 1972, Malcolm was transferred to Budingen, Germany where Marcia and Angela were able to live with him. While there, a son, Casey Lee, was born on April 9, 1974. Boy was Malcolm proud! He gave Casey his name and knew from the beginning he had a hunting and fishing buddy, which stood true.

When Malcolm was honorably discharged from the Army, he, Marcia, and his children, returned to Lamoni to make their home. Malcolm worked part time at Kellerton Oil but later was hired at Lamoni Municipal Utilities as a generation operator. Later he was promoted to chief plant manager. He worked there a total of 33 years. As a hobby and a stress reliever, Malcolm and Marcia bought a 20-acre farm near Kellerton, where they enjoyed farm life and raised sheep.

Malcolm didn’t say much, but when he did you better listen. He was blessed with grandchildren, which made family gatherings fun. He enjoyed the grandsons stopping by to show him the deer they had harvested, or fish bigger than any he had ever caught, or a stash of rabbits or squirrels ready for a feast. Boy was Grandpa ever proud!

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, Eileen Purl & husband, Jack. Survivors include his wife, Marcia, of Lamoni; children, Angela Ranney and husband, Gary, and Casey Ogier, all of Lamoni; grandchildren, Miles Latham and wife, Sara, Kaleb Ogier, Cael Ogier; Jacey Lewis, Creyton Ogier, Koleson Ogier, and Keeva Ranney; great grandchildren, Roman Gist, Emily Latham, and Lilly Latham; brothers, Melvin Ogier and wife, Ruth Ann of Elfrida, Arizona and Tony Ogier and wife, Donna, of Blythedale, Missouri; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Slade - O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, with burial following in the Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton, Iowa.
