Laura Lucille Tabor was born Jan. 22, 1897, in Peculiar, Mo., the fourth child of Charles Elsworth Curtis and Sarah Frances Pabworth Curtis, and died May 23, 1980, age 83. Of her three brothers and four sisters, two survive: Estella Wheatly of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ruth Simons, Independence, Mo.

During childhood Laura moved with family to Spirit Lake, Iowa, Des Moines, Iowa, and in 1912 to Eastern Colorado. She and Harold A. Tabor were married Nov. 22, 1919. They made their home near Larid and Wray, Colo., until 1945, when they moved to this area. They farmed several years in northern Missouri and moved to Lamoni, Iowa, in 1947. Harold preceded her in death April 6, 1977. Laura lived at Lamoni Manor from December 1973 until her death.

Labor Tabor had five children, all living: Corinne F. Banks, Kansas City, Mo.; Eugene H. Tabor and Kathryn L. Blair, Lamoni; Nancy A. Harper, Raytown, Mo.; and James R. Tabor, West Des Moines, Iowa. She was the grandmother of 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She actively participated in church work as a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, taking leadership roles in the women's work and study programs; was active in community clubs and 4-H work.
