Vickie Renee South

Vickie Renee South, oldest daughter of George and Dixie South, was born September 5, 1962, at the Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa. She departed this life May 8, 1983, from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident at Liberty, Missouri, at the age of 20 years, eight months, and three days.

Renee lived most of her life in Van Wert. She graduated from Clarke Community High School in May 1980. She was presently attending school at Southwestern Community College at Creston, where she was majoring in Nursing and would have graduated in October 1983.

Renee was a member of the Van Wert Assembly of God Church. She was promised to and planning to marry Mark "Brownie" Browne of Littlefield, Texas in the fall.

Precceding her in death was her grandfather, Carl South; her cousins, Kevin Heckathorn and Debbie South; and uncle, Lloyd Heckathorn.

Surviving relatives include parents, George and Dixie; sister, Sherry; brother Scott, all of the home; grandparents, Lois and Virgil McCauley of Derby and Barbara and Russell Cox of Belin, New Mexico; three great grandmothers, Bessie Glenn of the Leon Care Center; Ruby Hembry of Van Wert and Lois Shepard of Kidder, Missouri; aunt and uncle, Eldon and Sue South and cousin Brent, of Melcher-Dallas; cosuin Tanya and husband, Vaughn, of Knoxville; aunt, Deloris Heckathorn of Des Moines; other relatives and many friends.

Renee left a part of her smiling and loving personality with everyone she met.

Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m. May 11 at the Van Wert Assembly of God Church in charge of the Slade Funeral Home of Leon. Officiating were pastors Jim Booth and Steven Eastmen. Burial was in Van Wert Cemetery.
