Obituary of Orange BAILEY

Orange Bailey, settled in Davis Co., IA in 1845. He is buried in the
BAILEY CEMETERY on his old homestead site.

The following obituary is from an unknown Iowa newspaper.

Orange Bailey was born March 11, 1811 in the state of Penn. and
moved with his parents to Ohio near Columbus during the year 1823 where
he grew to manhood. He was married Aug. 8, 1832 to Lydia Wagner, seven
children blest this union, four of whom are living. He moved with his
family to Iowa and settled in Davis county Marion twp. in 1845. In 1847
his wife died and left him with five children and the hardships of a
pioneer's life. On Aug. 8, 1850 he was married to Nancy Good thirteen
children blest this union, four of whom are still living. On May 7,
1895 he was called to part with his wife. He lived on the farm on which
he first settled from 1845 to 1901 after which time he lived with his
sons. He was converted about the age of 27 in Ohio and joined the M. E.
church, after coming to Davis county Iowa. he joined the U. B. church of
which he tried to keep the faith and lived with a hope of a better
beyond until his death which occurred June 18, 1905 at the home of Henry
Bailey near Drakesville Iowa. The funeral services were conducted by
Rev. Jesse Monkman.
