Dale Lewis Becker, 80, of Adel died suddenly at his home on Sunday March 4, 2012. Friends may call between 5 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 11. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday March 13, both at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee. Inurnment at Oakdale cemetery in Adel will be at a later date.

Dale was born November 4, 1931 to Fred and Selma (Knierim) Becker in Knoke, Iowa. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1950 and served two years in the U.S. Army before his marriage to Harriet Black on September 23, 1954. He retired from Des Moines Water Works in 1993 and moved from Waukee to Adel in 1995.

He worked part-time for the City of Adel mowing the cemetery. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #464. Dale had enjoyed camping at Saylorville Lake and more recently, being a regular at Fuller's for coffee and the dog-walker for Smokey.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Harriet in 2009. He is survived by two sister-in-laws: Jerilyn (Robert) Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska and Kathryn Lee of High Pointe, North Carolina, several close cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his friends, especially the Dooley family.
