While not unexpected there was much surprise on Sunday afternoon to hear that Mr. Starr E. Goddard and Miss Henrietta Wiley were married at the home of her father J. F. Wiley at four in the afternoon. No announcements had been given and the bride was at church and Sunday school that morning. When the preacher and the Goddard family were seen riding out in the afternoon, the watchful one surmised what was about to take place. It was strictly “Home wedding” only the immediate relatives of the happy pair being present. After the ceremony by Rev. Curtis, a bounteous wedding dinner was served. Jess, father of the bride, acting in the capacity of host in his usual generous manner. Your correspondent has instructions that nothing too good can be said about this couple. The bride is handsome, popular, refined in manners, of fine education and of most; lovable disposition; while the groom is one of Dow City’s best and noblest young men. He is in the wagon making business with his father. They go to housekeeping immediately in the cottage just east of the rink which Mrs. Harry Huntington will leave for the all furnished. All wish them a happy, prosperous life. The knowing ones say that the Goddard-Wiley wedding is but the first of a goodly number to take place very soon.
