Funeral services for Donald C. Bennett, 66, Wheatland, were held Nov. 21, 1997 at the Toronto Community church, with the Rev. Judy Hoffman officiating. Carol Hartbeck was the organist and JoAnne Horstmann sang. Pallbearers were Shane and Heath Feuss, Jarek and Clifton Galloway, and Erik and Brandon Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers were Trevlyn Galloway, Colter Cleary, Keegan Cleary, Chase Bennett, Janelle and Jessica Bennett, Ashley Feuss, Chelsi Galloway, Kailey and Madison Bennett, Corynn Bennett and Stacia "Galloway" Hansen. Burial was in the Pine Hill cemetery.
Mr. Bennett died Nov. 18 at the Jackson county public hospital, following a sudden illness.
The son of William J. and Nettie Dann Bennett, he was born April 24, 1931 in Low Moor. He married Beulah Mae Snyder on June 4, 1950 in Toronto.
Mr. Bennett worked at Caterpillar in Mt. Joy from 1965 to 1967. He also farmed.
He was a member of the Toronto Community church. He was an avid tractor lover and collector. He also enjoyed going to farm sales and he enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Lon and wife Bobbi; and Clint and wife Deanne, Wheatland; 4 daughters, Jody (Mrs. David) Feuss; Denise (Mrs. Jon) Galloway; and Tammi Schmidt, all of Lost Nation; and Penny Cleary, Elwood; a sister, Mildred Jefford, Bettendorf; and 19 grandchildren.
