Funeral services for Howard J. Muhl, 76, Wheatland, were held July 30, 1997 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland, with the Rev. William Kanne officiating. Barbara Ruchotzke was the organist and Joel Paulsen sang. Pallbearers were Mark, Kevan, Todd and Craig Muhl, Bill Horstmann, Jr., Ken and Korey Seifert and Clint Bennett. Burial was in the Pine Hill cemetery, Wheatland.
Mr. Muhl died July 27 at his home, following a long illness.
The son of John W. and Esther Ott Muhl, he was born Oct. 23, 1920 in rural Wheatland. He married Earleen Dann on May 24, 1941 in Davenport.
Mr. Muhl was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland, a member of the Lions Club and a member of the Farm Bureau. He was also a former Lost Nation school board member, a former 4-H leader, a former member of the Lost Nation Elevator board, a former member of the F and B Telephone board, a former member of the Pine Hill cemetery board, a former member of the Wheatland Community Hall board, a former member of the Wheatland Community Hall board, a former member of the Cattleman's Association, and a former member of the A.S.C.S.
Mr. Muhl is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kendra Seifert, Lost Nation; 3 sons, Larry and wife Audrey, Morton, Ill.; Randy and wife Donna, DeWitt; and Jan and wife Janis, Wheatland; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harlan, Wheatland. He was preceded in death by his parents.
