Funeral services for Don Petersen, 58, Wheatland, were held June 11, 1997 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland, with the Rev. William Kanne officiating. August Knoll was the organist and Rita Hart sang. Pallbearers were David Buchanan, Harold Weih, Roland Reiling, Dan Condon, Robert Boock and Ray Meier. Burial was in St. Paul's cemetery, Wheatland.
Mr. Petersen died June 8 at his home following a long illness.
The son of William and Jeanette Knoche Petersen, he was born Dec. 12, 1938 in Big Rock. He married Carol Plambeck on June 24, 1961 in Wheatland.
Mr. Petersen had owned and operated Petersen Real Estate and Insurance in Wheatland since 1971.
He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Wheatland Loins Club and the Masonic Lodge in Oxford Junction. He enjoyed wood carving, fishing and golfing.
Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife; a daughter, Ann Powers, Wheatland, 2 sons, David, East Moline, Ill.; and Michael, Iceland; a sister, Lynn Leavens, Fulton, Ill.; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland or the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home.
