Funeral services for LaVerne "Andy" Anderson, 56, Wheatland, were held May 13, 1997 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland, with the Rev. William Kanne officiating. Sandra Horman was the organist and pallbearers were Jerry Bauer, Fred Dircks, Fred Wenger, Don Mills, Don Smith and Bob Boock. Burial was in the St. Paul's cemetery, Wheatland.

Mr. Anderson died May 10 at his home, following a long illness.

The son of Elmar and Viola Mohr Anderson, he was born July 7, 1940 in Clinton. He graduated from Wheatland high school. He married Dianne Berodt on March 22, 1958 in Dixon.

Mr. Anderson was a carpenter. He had been a member of the Wheatland fire department for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife; 5 sons, Terry and wife Kim, Bettendorf; Craig and wife Pam, DeWitt; Clifford, Davenport; and Lyle and Aaron, both of Wheatland; his mother in DeWitt; a sister, Eleanor Lowery, Grand Mound; 2 brothers, Ray, Winnebago, Ill.; and Jerry, Freeport, Ill.; 5 grandchildren; and a special friend, Becky Svoboda. He was preceded in death by his father and 2 sons, Kurt and Alan.
