Funeral services for Henrietta M. Homrighausen, 98, Big Rock, were held March 27, 1997 at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland, with the Rev. Robert Bartel officiating. Dorothy Gibson was the pianist and pallbearers were Dan and Philip Nietfeldt, Richard Schluter, Lee and Douglas Schwartz, and Bill Horstmann, Jr. Burial was in the Pine Hill cemetery, Wheatland.
Mrs. Homrighausen died March 25 at the Davenport Lutheran Home, following a lingering illness.
The daughter of Herman and Emma Bielenberg Horstmann, she was born Feb. 3, 1899 in Wheatland. She married Chris Homrighausen Feb. 15, 1922. He died in 1934. She married Emil Homrighausen Aug. 15, 1936. He died in 1974.
Mrs. Homrighausen taught school in her early years. She worked for Engelhart Manufacturing in Davenport and worked for 17 years at Horstmann Grocery in Big Rock.
She loved to bowl and continued until she was 90. She also enjoyed flowers.
Mrs. Homrighausen is survived by a daughter, Betty (Mrs. Robert) Schwartz, Dixon; a son, Junior, Lowden; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a brother, Bill Horstmann; a sister, Dorothy Kleppe; and a granddaughter, Peggy Schluter.
