Funeral services for Irvin Henry Schutt, 83, Wheatland, were held Dec. 16, 1996 at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland, with the Rev. John Ranbarger officiating. Pallbearers were Hubert Gade, William Horstmann, Jr., Kermit McCutcheon, Virgil Burmeister, Dean Schneider and Enos Ihns. Burial was in the Massillon cemetery.

Mr. Schutt died Dec. 13 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, following a long illness.

The son of Otto and Martha Drews Schutt, he was born Dec. 24, 1912 in Lyons. At age 2 1/2 his family moved to a farm north of Massillon. While he was growing up they lived on several farms in the Massillon and Toronto area. He married Anna Marie Schlueter Feb. 14, 1937 and they lived on a farm northwest of Toronto. In 1944 they moved to the farm northeast of Toronto. Ill health forced him to move to the nursing home in September.

Mr. Schutt was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Lowden.

He is survived by a son, Loren, Iowa City; 2 grandsons, Mark and Timothy, Iowa City; a granddaughter, Mary Faught, Manly; and a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Faught. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Nov. 12, 1995 and a son, Allen.
