Funeral services for Elmer L. Kelting, 84, Wheatland, were held March 26, 1996 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Harold Koening officiating. Mrs. Melvin Wiebel was the organist and Joel Paulsen sang. Pallbearers were Gilbert Schocker, Elwood Fuelling, Donald Ott, Ralph Martens, Kenneth Hoffman, Rick Petersen, Larre Petersen and Lorin Fox. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fischer.

Mr. Kelting died March 23 at Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport, following a long illness.

The son of Emil and Alma Schneider Kelting, he was born Oct. 25, 1911 in rural Wheatland. He married Amber Bicknese Sept. 4, 1938 in Wheatland.

Mr. Kelting was a retired farmer.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland and a former member of the church board and building committee. He had served on the county Farm Bureau board and was a member of the Wheatland Mutual Insurance board for 42 years. He was also the Spring Rock township clerk, retiring in 1996, and he was a member of the Wapsie Ringers horseshoe team.

Mr. Kelting is survived by his wife; a daughter, Judy (Mrs. Tom) Meyer, Dubuque; 2 sons, Ken and his wife Sherrie, Mundelein, Ill.; and Doug and his wife Nancy, Wheatland; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild; a sister, Mabel Fox; and a brother, Roy Kelting.
