Betty Jean Jobe, 78, of Cherokee died Thursday, May 1, at 12:55 a.m. in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral services will be held on Monday May 5 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.
Betty was born on August 27, 1924, at Cherokee to Felix and Edith (Morton) Johnson. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1942. She was married to Gerald D. Jobe on Nov. 10, 1946, at Larrabee. She was a secretary for Cherokee Produce, had worked for Safeway and F. W. Woolworth & Co. for a few years. She and her husband managed and operated the F.F.W. Club in Cherokee from 1951 until opening Jobie's Saloon in 1976 and retiring in 1985. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed working in her yard and time spent visiting with people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on May 12, 1992, and a sister, Ruth Johnson.
She is survived by 3 sons: Michael Jobe and his wife Kay of LaPlatta, Md.; Gary Jobe of Cherokee; Robert "Ben" Jobe and special friend Lori Reinert of Cherokee; 6 grandchildren: Moriah and Jessica Jobe, Brian, Janel, Kevin and Eric Jobe; 2 sisters; Dorothy Stiles of Cherokee and Marjorie Witcraft of Spring Valley, Calif.
