Beverly Ann Jarratt, 71, of Cherokee, passed away Friday, October 23rd at 7:54 p.m. in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27th at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at the Church on Tuesday. Visitation was on Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Beverly was born March 16, 1927, at Atlantic, Iowa to Arthur J. and Kathlyn (George) Young. She attended grammar school at Atlantic. She attended high school at Thomas Jefferson in Council Bluffs, Benson in Omaha, Coeur D Alene in Idaho and graduated from corpus Christi High School in Texas. She was married to Ensign Charles A. Jarratt on August 2, 1945, at Corpus Christi, Texas. The couple moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he attended the University of Nebraska, College of Dentistry. In January of 1951, they moved to Cherokee to make their home. Following Dr. Jarratt’s death, she went to work as a bookkeeper and realtor for Miller Mac House of Insurance and Real Estate, retiring in 1995. She had also worked as a bookkeeper for Deer Valley Land Improvement Ltd. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, having served on the Christian Education Committee, taught Sunday School for many years, had served on the Memorial Committee and also the Board of Trustees. She had been an active member of many social activities and community projects.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on April 22, 1976, also five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Tom Jarratt and his wife Nancy of Aurelia, Iowa; Julie Berglund and her husband Jerry of Cherokee; Jim Jarratt and his wife Carla of Plano, Texas; Janie Harer and her husband Kent of Grapevine, Texas; six grandchildren: Luke and Lisa Berglund at college in Ames, Iowa; Nicholas Jarratt of Plano, Tx.; Jamie Jarratt and his wife Erin of Plano, Tx.; Charles and Joe Harer of Grapevine, Tx.; a brother Joe Young and his wife Frances of Tucson, Az.; also many nieces and nephews.
