Funeral services for Arnold Conrad, 91, Tipton, were held April 21, 1997 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, with the Rev. Rodney Slessor officiating. Mrs. Robert Hasselbusch was the organist and the St. John's adult choir sang. Pallbearers were Alvin Wright, Jerry and Randy Agne, Harley Dallege, Keith Wood and Eugene Rohlf. Burial was in St. John's cemetery, Clarence.

Mr. Conrad died April 18 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.

The son of Henry and Louise Ebert Conrad, he was born Dec. 2, 1905 in rural Tipton. He married Esther Doermann Feb. 22, 1930 in Lowden. She died in 1990.

Mr. Conrad was a retired farmer. He had been a resident of the Mechanicsville Nursing Home since the fall of 1994.

He was a member of St. John's church in Clarence and he was a former director of the Clarence Coop and the Cedar County Coop in Tipton. He enjoyed bowling.

Mr. Conrad is survived by 3 sons, Harley, Tipton; Kenneth, Long Grove; and Gene, Cascade; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Luella Voights, Clarksville; and Esther Moir, Mechanicsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and a grandson.
