Funeral services for Jon Eugene Fowler, 56, Tipton, were held April 22, 1997 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Tipton, with Father Eugene Benda officiating. Mary Wethington was the organist and pallbearers were Joe Bauer, Tom Miller, Chris Chambers, Brent Taber, Neil Lorii and Glen Winekauf. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Tipton.
Mr. Fowler died April 19 at Muscatine General hospital, following a sudden illness.
The son of John L. and Ruth Ernst Fowler, he was born June 8, 1940 in Franklin county. He attended Hansel high school and the University of Northern Iowa. He married Karla J. Carlisle Dec. 30, 1961 in Tipton
Mr. Fowler was a retired school teacher.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Tipton.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sarah Fowler, Chicago, Ill.; 2 sons, Greg and Andy, both of Tipton; 4 sisters, Janice Petersen, Davis, Calif.; Joyce Walsh, Chanhassen, Minn; Jean Bodensteiner, Nevada; and June Mackey, Richmond, Ind.; and 3 brothers, Jim, Wichita, Kans.; Jerry, Elm Grove, Wis.; and Joe, Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Julie.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
