Funeral services for Edmond E. Grace, 76, Springdale, were held April 14, 1997 at the Springdale United Methodist church, with the Rev. Richard M. Paulus officiating. Rhoda Barnhart was the organist and Jim Farmer sang. Pallbearers were Don Turner, Joseph Maher, Robert Gruwell, Dick Sabourin, Tim Kilburg and Richard Wieneke. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Nash, Richard Hinty and Herman Paulsen. Burial, with military honors, was in the Springdale cemetery.

Mr. Grace died suddenly April 10, shortly after he was admitted to Mercy hospital in Iowa City.

The son of Elam and Minnie Waddell Grace, he was born Dec 9, 1920 in What Cheer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He married Arlene Dennis March 12, 1946 in What Cheer. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary March 12, 1997.

Mr. Grace had been employed at the University of Iowa Department of Pharmacology for 32 years until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Carolyn and husband Richard Emerson, Iowa City; Diane and husband Ken Phillips, Springdale; and Sheryl and husband Robert Bergmann, Springdale; a son, Larry and wife Kathy Grace, Springdale; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lealon Grace, What Cheer; and Gerald and wife Leola Grace, Spokane, Wash.; 2 sisters-in-law, Audrey Grace-Richardson, Ottumwa; and Marie Grace, York, Pa.; and his mother-in-law, Catherine Dennis, Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
