Myrtle Elizabeth Achey, 86, Tipton, died March 17, 1997 at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness. Her body has been cremated and there will be no services.

The daughter of Henry Clay and Clara Schoenibg Harden, she was born Feb. 15, 1911 in West Branch. She attended Black Hawk county schools. She married Homer Charles Achey in September 1932 in West Branch.

She was a sheep shearer with her husband.

Mrs. Achey is survived by her husband; a brother, John Harden and wife Ethel, Lisbon; a brother-in-law, Fred Achey, Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 half-brothers, Allen Whede and LeRoy Whede; and sister, Lucille Dameron; and 5 brothers, Kenneth, Henry, Lewis, Gene and Robert Harden.
