STATE NEWS

Some time since these columns contained an account of the sudden death of Effy J. Robinson, at Pedee, Cedar County, who prepared all her clothing for burial and then left a letter for her mother, telling her she had a premonition that she, or at least might, die suddenly. A dispatch to the Chicago Tribune tells the sequel: “The corpse was buried, and laid in its grave until Friday, when, upon request of several parties, the Coroner took up the body and had it examined by physicians. The examination revealed the fact that the girl was enceinte, and that attempts had been made to produce an abortion both with instruments and drugs, but without success, and that their efforts were not the direct cause of her death, but that other means had been used. The author of her ruin is said to be a married man with a large family, and in good circumstances.
