SUIT FOR DAMAGES-At the June term for the District Court for Cedar Co. to commence at Tipton next Monday two civil suits are to come off against Wm. Joy, now in jail here, as our readers know, for the alleged theft of N. Saum’s mules last winter. The first of these suits is brought by Miller & Hughes, liverymen at Quincy, Ill, the damages, by reason of the purchase of stolen property-the mules a foresaid-being laid at $600. The second suit is brought by Nicholas Saum for the sum of $1500 damages for traveling and other expenses while in pursuit of the stolen mules. This amount does not include the $200 paid as the reward for the recovery of the stolen property.

The attorneys for Miller & Hughes and also for Mr. Saum, are S. T. Pierce of this city, and Wm. Thompson, of Marion. Attorney for defendant, Wm E. Leffingwell. These cases will probably attract much interest and this will not be a little increased by the presence of the able attorneys associated in their management.
