George Odiet
(January 16, 1879 – January 16, 1937)

Obituary
George Odiet, who died last week at Storm Lake, was well and favorably known to many Pomeroy people as he has visited here many times at the home of his late brother, Henry Odiet Sr., and sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Odiet. The life of Mr. Odiet may be summed up in a phrase that “He spent his life in doing good and in the service of others.” He was unselfish and very devoted to his loved ones. For two years before his mother’s death he gave up his work and gave her his entire time caring for her lovingly and tenderly during her long months of illness. At the times sickness and death came to the home of Mrs. Mary Odiet here, he came and stayed and, in Mr. Odiet’s words, “He stood by me through thick and thin and was a real brother.” A quiet and unassuming man, Mr. Odiet truly devoted his life to the service of others. He is sincerely mourned by many friends and relatives who realize the loss of a true friend. Pomeroy Herald, Pomeroy, Iowa, Thurs., Jan 28, 1937, p.1
