Obituary
Fred L. Swanson was born in Colfax Township, Pocahontas County, October 6th, 1887, and has spent almost the entire part of his life in this community. In the year of 1918 he was employed in Fort Dodge. He was married to Miss Huldah Carlson of Fort Dodge, December 30th 1914. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Swanson moved on a farm in this community where they established their home. Almost two years ago, they moved to a farm northwest of Manson, where, following a very brief illness, Mr. Swanson passed away last Friday afternoon at the age of 49 years, 3 months and 18 days. Mr. Swanson was reared in a Christian home and environment and from his boyhood he had been a faithful attendant of the Mission Covenant Church. He was an active and loyal member of said church until his death. Brother Swanson possessed a friendly and pleasant disposition. He was a man of Christian habits and character; he was a good neighbor and a kind and loving husband and father. At this seemingly untimely hour of departure we are thankful for the assurance we have of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour, Jesus said: “I am the Resurrection and the Life; He that believeth on Me, though he die, yet shall he live.” Mr. Swanson is survived by the following immediate relatives: his beloved wife, Mrs. Huldah Swanson; two daughters, Elsie and Ethel; one son, Curtis, and two brothers, Mr. N. J. Swanson of Pomeroy and Mr. S. E. Swanson of Minneapolis, Minn. Last September his sister, Miss Anna Swanson, who had been living with them for several years, passes away. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Mission Covenant Church. The services were conducted by the Rev. Robert A. Larson of Albert City, assisted by the Rev. N. A. Blomstrand, former pastor of the church. Music was furnished by the choir of the church and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Torell. The pallbearers were: Emil Johnson, Arthur Mefferd, Martin Olson, Arthur Welander, Carl Johnson, Ben Torell. Mr. Swanson had many friends and was highly esteemed, as was evidenced by the large attendance and the beautiful floral offering. May our Heavenly Father bless, comfort, and sustain the bereaved in this hour and may we trust in His infinite love and providential guidance although we do not at this time understand his ways.
