Mrs. Mary Burg was born in Rylahoms congregation, Jonkopingslan, Sweden, June 25th, 1860. She came to this country in the month of April 1888, settling first at North Branch, Minnesota. March 6, 1895 she moved from North Branch to Pomeroy. December 21, 1895, she was united in marriage to John F. Burg of Pomeroy. They made their home in this vicinity until the time of the death of her husband, who died Sept. 27th 1912. In the month of March 1915, she joined the fellowship of the Swedish Mission Church of Pomeroy. She remained a faithful and active member of the said church, although she did not live in this vicinity during her last years. In the year of 1916, she moved back to North Branch, Minn., where she made her home until June 21, 1926, when she moved to the Swedish Old People’s Home at Boone, Iowa, where she had a pleasant room and good care. Mrs. Burg was converted to the Christian faith at the age of 15 years. She possessed a beautiful Christian character. Her faith and hope was a Jesus Christ. After a protracted illness, she received the Heavenly summons last Wednesday to depart from this life and enter the rest of the righteous. At the time of her departure she had reached the age of 72 years, 4 months and 14 days. Her immediate survivors are: one sister, Mrs. C. A. Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and one brother, Mr. Andrew Rydberg of North Branch, Minn., and their families. A short funeral service for Mrs. Burg was conducted by the Rev. August Johnson in the Swedish Old People’s Home at Boone Saturday. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon in the Swedish Mission Church. Rev. August Johnson of Bristow, Nebr., former pastor and friend of Mrs. Burg took part in the service. A duet was sung by Miss Evelyn Johnson and Miss Dorothy Johnson of Bristow, Nebr. A mixed quartet from the church also sang. The pall bearers were: Charles Skooglued, C. M. Johnson, Charles Swalin, Gust Andrews, G. B. Peterson and John Peterson.
