Smrkovsky Rites Held Wednesday
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Palmer Wednesday morning for Joseph Smrkovsky, who passed away at his home four miles southwest of Palmer on Monday morning. Mr. Smrkovsky, a bachelor, had lived in this community all of his life and was respected by all who knew him. He had been in his usual health and was at his regular duties around the farm when he was stricken with a heart attack and died suddenly.
Obituary – Joseph Edward Smrkovsky, son of Antone and Barbara Smrkovsky, was born in Austria on February 9th, 1876, and passed away August 6th, 1934, at his home near Palmer, at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 27 days. He leaves to mourn his death, two brothers, Frank of Pomeroy, and Anton of Pocahontas; two sisters, Mrs. George Peters and Mrs. John Klein of Pocahontas, also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Palmer on Wednesday morning, August 8th, at 9:30 o’clock, with the Rev. Father Richard Graf in charge.
