D. Kathleen Morris passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Quasqueton, Iowa.

Dorothy Kathleen Aldrich was born in Mullinville, Kansas on May 26, 1932. She was the first of five children born to Stewart L. Aldrich and Marjorie R. (Graham) Aldrich. When she was five years old her family returned to her father’s hometown of Quasqueton, Iowa. She attended Quasqueton Community School. As a small child, the family had a small Dairy and she would help her dad deliver milk and cream to the customers. While in school she learned to play piano and won many local vocal competitions. She also played girls six on six basketball in high school.

On March 19, 1949, she married Arnold Lee Morris in Walker, Iowa. They lived in several places in Buchanan County. In 1957 they purchased their acreage on the edge of Quasky, where they raised their kids and quarter horses on the edge of the Wapsipinicon River. She was a member of the Quasqueton Union Church, where she was previously a Sunday school teacher. She was a former secretary of the Quasqueton Historical Society (Kathleen was always proud of her Quasky heritage). She was a great Hawkeye fan and loved and liked to discuss most sports. Kathleen worked for a short time at Collins Radio and was then a stay-at-home wife and mother. She later did daycare and elder care. She loved her family fiercely and helped them whenever she was needed. She enjoyed attending her grand and great-grandchildren’s activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her son: Kim (Marlene O’Clair) Morris, Swisher, IA, and daughter: Kathy (Tom) Cook, Independence, IA, grandchildren: Kayleen (Dustin) Schott, Bryan Cook, Kodi (Jeremy Smock) Cook, and Jenna (Chad) Houge, great-grandchildren: Dunan and Brecken Schott, Emma Mast, Chloe and Carlee Callan, Ella, Ty, and Braxton Houge, Zoey and Chloe Le, and great-great grandson: Jamison Le, a brother: Larry (Janet) Aldrich, Cedar Rapids, IA, and sister Vicki Cornwell, Vinton, IA.

D. Kathleen Morris was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Marjorie Aldrich, her husband Arnold in 1979, an infant son Randy, and sisters Colleen Morris and Dixie Smith.

A Private Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Burial was held at the Wilson Cemetery in Independence, IA.
