Janet R. Andrews, 75, of Independence, IA, died Sunday, March 31, 2024, at her home in Independence, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Janet R. Holst was born March 14, 1949, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Floyd and June (Larson) Holst. She graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1967. Later in life she attended Hawkeye Community College and graduated from the Administrative Assistant program. Janet married Michael Irwin and together they had Lori and Jennifer. The couple later divorced. On August 30, 1991, Janet was united in marriage to William G. “Bodie” Andrews in Independence. Together, they loved to travel and antique all over the country. Janet loved her family, and she loved the Lord. She enjoyed working in her garden and decorating at home and at the church. She liked to watch the Golden Girls, and she loved to drive her Ford Mustang GT. Janet was a member of the Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence.

Janet is survived by her husband, Bodie Andrews of Independence, IA; two daughters, Lori (Chad) Albright of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jennifer (Brent) Pettigrew of Center Point, IA; one step-daughter, Heather Andrews of Cedar Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Brooke Albright, Paige (Duncan) Smeins, Jordan (Chelsea) Bellendier, Ellea Kreb, Khloe Pettigrew; four great grandchildren, Blakely, Watson, J.T., Blane; and one brother, Ken (Dee) Holst of Center Point, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Roger Holst and Richard Holst.

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. – Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence, followed by a light lunch to continue the Celebration of Life at Denali’s in Independence. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorial visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until services on Thursday, at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
