“Injuns”

A party of Sioux Indians to the number 400 or more made their appearance in Bremer County and commenced their depredations by plundering the inhabitants stealing provisions &c. A company of one hundred men were temporarily organized and drove them towards the northern frontier when a military company from Dubuque pursued them and drove them beyond bounds of the state. They were claiming their old hunting grounds again but a little promptness with them in the outset in resisting their unfounded claims will prevent any further depredations from them.
